Dear Colleagues,
We would like to thank TESOL Arabia members and non-members from the Eastern Region for their continuous support, interest and participation in our previous mini conferences and workshops. Our chapter would like to invite interested teachers to lead a workshop or give a presentation at our next PD event on November 7. Your experience is valuable for us and other participants of our events. We would also like to welcome prospective first-time participants, non-TESOL Arabia members including, to upcoming PD events for teachers in the Eastern Region.
The theme of our next conference is The Optimal Assessment Practices in Classroom. The idea of “optimal” assessment can be understood in different ways. For some teachers it means the balance between more frequent assessment events and realistic management, i.e., less time consuming marking methods; for others – more systematic, relevant and objective assessment tools, organically woven into their syllabuses. The challenge, however, is in finding harmony between those conflicting aspects of classroom assessment practices and approaches.
