We can use lines of latitude and longitude to give the position
of a place on the Earth. Lines of latitude run around the Earth.
The best-known line of latitude is the Equator, which runs
around the centre of the Earth. Lines of longitude run from
the North Pole to the South Pole. The most important line of
longitude is the Greenwich Meridian which runs through
London. International time, or GMT, is taken from this line.
